Robots

Robotics Boston Dynamics pioneered walking robots, on both two legs and four. Google acquired them and a few other robotics companies back in 2013. The idea was to build a robotics engineering team inside Google and make them work with Boston Dynamics on robotics projects.

Since then, not much happened. And Google has had enough!. as google robotic engineers in California and Tokyo clashed with BD failure to come up with products that could be released in the near term.
Toyota or Amazon seem to be interested in acquiring Boston Dynamics for their manufacturing or warehouse operations. Trouble is The hardware solutions BD created is know-how and intellectual property that Google currently owns since they own BD. When they sell off BD they could exclude the key patents or sell them as non-exclusive licenses. Which means Google could start a competing robotics company, use the BD patents and hardware know-how, and add a Deep Learning based software stack to run that hardware much faster than they could turn Boston Dynamics around.
What’s Google up to? Spending hundreds of millions of dollars buying up the best robotic companies around the world! Are they trying to play God? Are they Trying to create a robotic terminator? Sounds all suss and scary I suppose the near future will be interesting….
