Mt Mayon been highly unrest.
After noticing of high relatively high unrest on Mayon Volcano it was put on alert level 3 by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology( PHILVOLCS). The agency has recorded 72 rock fall events and 32 volcanic earthquakes in the 24 hour period of observation dated September 16,2014 at eight o’clock in the morning. On the night before a bright crater glow was observed which indicates possibly magma on the crater and thus destructive eruption is possible.
Possible landslide , rock falls and sudden explosions are expected that may cause hazardous volcanic flows, so the PHILVOLCS strictly advises 6 kilometre radius permanent danger Zone around the Mayon Volcano and additional 7 kilometres radius Extended danger Zone.
Since the alert has beed raised, the Albay Governor already evacuated all the residents who live within the zone radius. Forced evacuation was enforced in Legazpi City, Tabaco City, Ligao City, towns of Malilipot, Camalig, Darag and Sto. Domingo. The PHILVOLCS mentioned that Mayon Volcano will be closedly monitor.
